We are thrilled to share the latest updates and accomplishments of our program, Jinja Connection, which is dedicated to empowering and transforming the lives of children living on the streets. Through our comprehensive rehabilitation, resettlement, and education programs, we have been able to make a tangible difference in the lives of these vulnerable children and their communities.

 

Over the past two months, April and May 2023, we have achieved several noteworthy successes, which we would like to highlight:

 

1. Resettlement of 11 Children:

Through our diligent efforts, we have successfully reintegrated eight children into their families and communities. By providing the necessary support and guidance, we believe in creating sustainable change and enabling these children to build a brighter future.

 

2. Daily Feeding Program:

Our commitment to addressing the immediate needs of street children has resulted in an average of 17 children receiving nutritious meals every day. By ensuring they have access to regular meals, we strive to alleviate hunger and enhance their overall well-being.

 

3. Medical Treatment for 11 Children:

We have provided vital medical care and treatment to eleven children who required immediate attention. By prioritizing their health and well-being, we are actively working towards improving their quality of life and enabling them to thrive.

 

4. Registry of new children in our Rehab Program:

Through our street walk activities, we have mobilized many new children who have just moved to the streets out of which we registered up to 20 in our rehabilitation program. Through a holistic approach that includes counseling, education, and skill-building, we aim to empower these children with the tools they need to break free from the cycle of street life.

5. Rescuing and Referring 2 Girls:

We are proud to have rescued two girls from the streets, ensuring their safety and well-being. We promptly referred them to related organizations that specialize in providing specialized care and support for girls in vulnerable situations.

6. Raising Awareness:

Through collaborative efforts, we have successfully raised awareness about the challenges faced by children living on the streets. We focused on dispelling stigmas associated with them, addressing issues such as child abuse, child labor, and promoting how the wider community can play a vital role in minimizing the migration of children from their homes to urban areas.

 

Jinja Connection is not only committed to rehabilitating and reintegrating street children but also dedicated to providing them with a holistic support system. Alongside our rehabilitation efforts, we offer vital discipleship and vocational training programs, equipping these children with essential life skills that will enable them to become self-reliant and lead productive lives.
